Chatham boy with big heart walks to help Children's Hospital

A boy from Chatham will be walking a long distance next month to help the London Children's Hospital.

Joshua Taylor, 13, will be walking from Chatham to Windsor on April 10, 2022 to raise money for the hospital that recently performed emergency surgery on his baby brother and saved his little sister's life 10 years ago.

Joshua, a student at George P. Vanier Catholic School, said London Children's Hospital took "really good care" of his sister for over a month while she was in the hospital and he wants to give back.

"I am currently working on a class project where I was given $25 to donate to a charity of my choice. I have decided to reach out to family, friends and anyone who would like to help with raising more money as I chose to donate to the London hospital for sick kids," Taylor said. "I would like to give back to them and show support to all the sick children and their families. I like to call them childhood heroes!"

Joshua said he will be walking with his Mom Sandra Glover on April 10 and the walk will start at 5 a.m. at the corner of Grand River Line and Jacob Road on the outskirts of Chatham. The walk will be taking place along the water to avoid major traffic and will end at Stop 26 Ice Cream at 10585 Clairview Avenue in Windsor.

"We will be going live on Facebook to keep everyone up to date on our progress throughout the day as we are looking at a minimum of 12 hours, according to Google Maps without breaks," he said. "If all goes according to plan with breaks, we should be arriving at our destination by 6 p.m. and will be celebrating with an ice cream."

Joshua's Mom is thanking everyone for helping her son make this happen.

"I’m so proud of him," Glover said.

Glover said donations can be picked up or donors can email sandrag_85@live.com for an e-transfer.

Donors can also give directly to the Children's Health Foundation on Joshua's behalf by clicking here.
