Family dispute leads to assault charge
A man has a future court date after allegedly assaulting his mother in Chatham.
According to police, the man was driving on Grand Avenue West while he became upset with his mother. He allegedly started to assault her while driving.
He continued to drive during the assault and police said he was driving erratically before finally pulling over.
The suspect then got out of the vehicle and allegedly started to assault another person who was trying to help.
The man was arrested, transported to police headquarters and eventually given a court date in July.

Pair of arsons
Chatham-Kent police are investigating after two arsons in Chatham on Saturday night.
Around 6:41 p.m., two trailers located beside a business on Keil Drive were found on fire.
The fire was extinguished. Damage and the value of the contents lost is estimated at around $200,000.
Elsewhere, around 6:46 p.m., a portable toilet was found on fire and destroyed in the parking lot of Memorial Arena on Tweedsmuir Avenue West.
Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Warrant arrests
Two people have future court dates after a pair of separate warrant arrests in Chatham.
Chatham-Kent police received a message from Peel Police that they had a warrant for a person in the Chatham area.
The man was located on Sheldon Avenue and arrested. He was taken to the police station and eventually released with a future court date.
Meanwhile, Chatham-Kent police were contacted about an unwanted person on Berry Street.
Officers arrived and found a man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
A search found that the man was also in possession of a BB gun, which is a violation of a previous release.
He was taken to police headquarters and released with a future court date.
