The Chatham-Kent Hospice is getting a helping hand from the local chapter of 100 Women Who Care.
The group, now in its fifth year, meets quarterly and each member commits to donating $100 to a local charity that is selected by a majority vote.
This year, the nominations and voting took place online because of the current restrictions on gatherings. The group ended up choosing the CK Hospice and later made a $12,000 donation to the facility to help support compassionate, end-of-life hospice care for local families.
"[We are] overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness of 100 Women Who Care, especially during these uncertain times," said Jodi Maroney, executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation. "Our Hospice families have no choice but to deal with end-of-life and the pandemic. This means a lot to me and our Hospice families that call Hospice 'Home.'"
The 100 Women Who Care are set to meet again on Wednesday, November 25, 2020. If they cannot meet in person, the nominations and voting will once again take place online.
