HPPH provides update on potential COVID-19 community exposure

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) held a teleconference to provide a local update on COVID-19.

Huron-Perth Medical Officer of Health Dr. Miriam Klassen has been in contact with the Waterloo Public Health team. The team said a Waterloo resident that was present at an event at the Seaforth Ag Hall held on March 14 has since tested positive for COVID-19.

They do not have a specific number of individuals who were present at the event, but are confident it did not exceed the social gathering maximum of 250 people that was in place at that time.

Klassen said Waterloo public health staff will contact individuals who may have had direct contact with the Waterloo resident.

Klassen said to date, 101 people in Huron-Perth have been tested for the novel Coronavirus, with 73 negative results, 26 pending, and two confirmed.
