Express Take 5th Straight, Beat Titans 93-89

DeAndre Thomas sank 23 points as the Windsor Express beat the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans on the road Saturday night 93-89.

It was the fifth straight victory for the Express, who improve to 15-13 on the season, yet remain in a distant second place to the London Lightning in the NBL Central Division standings.

Thomas missed only one of his 11 field goal attempts during the course of the game, playing off the bench.  He also had four assists and three rebounds before fouling out.

Juan Pattillo contributed 18 points for Windsor, including two free throws.  He also led the team defensively with eight rebounds.   Tony Bennett put in 13 points.

Ed Horton led the Titans offensively with 13 points, including three-of-four free throw attempts completed.  Isiah Umipig, Tramar Sutherland and Cavell Johnson each scored 11.  Adam Blazek and Flenard Whitfield each had seven rebounds for Kitchener-Waterloo.

The Express controlled the tempo throughout the first half, hitting field goals and three-point shots at opportune times and taking a 45-39 lead at halftime.  The Titans then tightened the game offensively though Windsor's defence shut them down toward the end of regulation.

Windsor continues its six-game road trip Monday night, when they visit Moncton for a tussle with the Miracles.
