Breaking Barriers Of Mental Health

In an effort to break down any stigmas attached with mental health, Canadian sportscaster Michael Landsberg is speaking out as part of Bell Let's Talk Day.

Landsberg, a mental health advocate, says the first step to getting help is sharing your struggle with someone else.

"There's many dimensions to this," says Landsberg. "The more you talk about it, the easier it gets to talk about."

Landsberg spoke openly for the first time about his battle with depression on his show Off The Record back in 2009.

"If you're someone like me who has suffered, you have to find a way to work on yourself, to appreciate that you are not weak, that you are not to blame for this, and that you are sick. And when you believe that, you go for help a lot more quickly, or you share," he says.

As part of Bell Let’s Talk Day today, Bell intends donate 5 cents to Canadian mental health programs for every text message, wireless and long distance call made, every tweet using #BellLetsTalk, and every share of the Bell Let’s Talk Day image on Facebook.
