The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has announced two doctors coming to the area will fill vacancies in specialty medicine.
Medical recruiter Fannie Vavoulis says Dr. George Jacob is an Obstetrician-Gynaecologist and Dr. Jason Back is a Pathologist, and both are specialties where there was a need to add physicians in those areas.
She says Dr. Jacob spent time at the Health Alliance while at University.
"It's a key factor in our recruitment it also gives him exposure in a short term what it would be like to practice in a community hospital so he's happily moved here with his wife and young son," she says.
Dr. Back who is returning to Canada after training in the United States wanted a smaller community not too far from his native Hamilton.
"The difference is that we are a little bit of a slower pace than Hamilton and he really liked part of it, and he's a huge fisherman and loves to fish," she says.
Vavoulis says the area needs a total of four doctors in both areas of specialty and the additions move OBGYN to full complement while the Pathology department still has an opening.
