Damage is pegged at $120,000 after an early morning house fire in Wallaceburg.
Crews were called to 22 Reaume Ave. around 4:37am for a working fire in progress. Neighbour Dan Vlahos says the fire woke him up, he called 9-1-1, and then sprang into action.
"One neighbour we pounded on the door for a while but no one responded, he's in a wheelchair so we were concerned," says Vlahos. "So we went to the next neighbour and found out he's camping, then we went to the neighbour on the other side, pounded on his door and got him up, and then we just watched it." No one was home at the time of the blaze, which completely destroyed the residence while causing extensive heat damage to one side of a neighbouring home.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
