March Ending On Chilly Note

It looks like Mother Nature didn't get the memo that it's officially spring.

Environment Canada officials are expecting temperatures to hover around the freezing mark for the remainder of March.

Warning Preparedness Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says cold air coming from the northwest will be hanging over southwestern Ontario until at least April. "Not the same depth of cold we saw in February, we're not going to see -18 C (0 F) to -20 C (-4 F) temperatures. But still some pretty chilly temperatures in store over the next couple of weeks, and unfortunately the chance of some flurry activity as well to round out March Break."

Coulson adds the month of March is characterized by cold and warm masses jockeying for position, but it looks like the cold air masses will win this year. Coulson anticipates temperatures to finally reach normal highs by mid-April.
