A federal Liberal MP says the Conservative government has undermined the country's farm safety nets.
Wayne Easter toured the riding of Perth-Wellington this week.
He argues Agristability and AgriInvest have been cut back and the Conservatives have also reduced government agricultural research investments.
Easter also wants to see more investments in the infrastructure needed to support agricultural exports.
He suggests farmers need to know their products can get across the border efficiently.
According to Easter, the entire rural community benefits when farmers have money in their pockets.
Easter's time in Ottawa included a stint as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture in a previous Liberal government as well as several stints on the House Agriculture and Agri-Food committee.

Easter says we're an export economy, and farmers need to know the infrastructure is there for them to market what they produce.
