Arson charge laid following Blenheim blaze

A 42-year-old Blenheim woman is facing arson charges after a $500,000 fire in Blenheim on Friday morning.

Chatham-Kent (CK) police alleged the circumstances surrounding the fire at 83 Talbot Street East in Blenheim were "immediately" believed to be suspicious, and a suspect responsible for setting the fire was identified.

All residents were safely evacuated from the multi-unit home, said police. Fire officials said that tenants from three separate units have been displaced.

The accused is charged with arson - disregard for human life.

The investigation continues.
