Gala raises $159K to help CK kids

Supporters of the Chatham-Kent Children's Treatment Centre boogied their way to raising $159,000 during the fourth annual Gala for the Kids in Chatham on Saturday.

The funds will support children and youth with physical, developmental, and communication challenges across Chatham-Kent.

This year’s theme was "Disco" and guests embraced the era by wearing bold colours, sequins, and platform shoes, as well as showing off their Hustle and Bump dance steps.

The evening at the Chatham Armoury featured dinner, live performances, and silent auctions for exclusive experiences, unique items, and sought-after packages.

Organizers said the excitement in the room reflected the deep commitment this community has to supporting local children and families.

“Our community continues to show up in the most incredible way for our kids,” said Mike Genge, Foundation President. “The energy in the room was unforgettable, but what truly matters is the lasting impact these funds will have on children and youth who rely on our services every day.”

According to the Foundation, the funds raised through the gala will support essential programs not covered by government funding, such as social work, therapeutic recreation, and music therapy that enhance confidence, connection, and overall well-being for children and families served by the Treatment Centre.

One in five children in Chatham-Kent accesses services through the Centre, noted the Foundation.

"Thanks to the continued generosity of sponsors, donors, volunteers, and guests, more children will receive the care and support they need to thrive," organizers said.
