Protas wins game for Spitfires in OT

The Windsor Spitfires needed overtime to beat the Brantford Bulldogs.

The Spitfires hosted the Bulldogs on Saturday and won 3-2 thanks to a goal from Ilya Protas.

It was Brantford that opened the scoring when Marek Vanacker found the back of the net in the first period.

The Spitfires were able to tie the game four minutes later thanks to a goal from Liam Greentree. His 35th goal was unassisted.

Anthony Cristoforo gave the Spitfires their first lead of the game late in the second period with a powerplay goal. Getting the assists were Jack Nesbitt and Greentree.

Brantford would tie the game with under five minutes left in regulation as Nick Lardis scored his OHL leading 52nd goal.

Fast forward to overtime where Protas won the game for the Spitfires with his 35th goal. The only helper came from Noah Morneau.

With the win, Windsor improves its record to 36-12-2-1, while Brantford moves to 31-16-5-0.

The Spitfires' next game is on Thursday, February 13, at home against the Sarnia Sting.
