The Windsor Spitfires lost a close game to Kitchener Saturday night.
They hosted the Rangers and ended up losing 3-2 in a shootout.
It was Kitchener who found the back of the net first as Tanner Lam scored his 5th goal of the season in the first period.
The Spitfires would head into the first intermission with the lead thanks to goals from Ethan Martin, his 3rd of the year, and Ilya Protas, his 17th of the year. Ethan Belchetz, Jack Nesbitt, and Josef Eichler each got assists.
Kitchener ended up tying the game in the second period with a goal from Jack Pridham, his 5th of the season.
Neither team scored in the third period, forcing the game into overtime.
OT ended the same way with the game needing a shootout to be decided.
The only goal in the shootout came from Kitchener’s Trent Swick.
Protas, Liam Greentree, and Belchetz missed on their attempts.
With the loss, Windsor sees its record drop to 19-6-2-1, while Kitchener moves to 21-5-2-1.
