73's Drop First Semi-Final Game

The Essex 73's have fallen behind in their Schmalz Cup semi-final with Ayr, falling 5-2 Tuesday night.

Things looked good for Essex early in the second, when a powerplay goal by Anthony Cristofaro put the 73's ahead 2-1 less than five minutes into the period.

But from there, it was all offense for the Centennials. They scored four unanswered goals, capped off by an unassisted marker by Jake Whibbs. Brett Vorshuk scored the 73's' other goal, while Jackson White, Cole Cummings, Cash Seraphim and Mackenzie Kemp also scored for Ayr.

Game two of the series goes Wednesday night at 7pm.
