Whether you're a student, a parent, or seeking a job, the Level Up! Skilled Trades Career Fair is coming to the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing this week.
From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., on November 11, the event will include a public open house welcoming students, families, jobseekers, and others in the community to interact with exhibitors to learn about opportunities in Ontario's 140 skilled trades.
The event continues on November 12 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"Whether you're a student exploring career possibilities, a parent learning more about apprenticeship, or an adult considering a career change, Level Up! offers an engaging introduction to one of Ontario's most important and rewarding sectors," said CEO of Skilled Trades Ontario, Candice White.
LaSalle is the eighth stop on the career fair's 12-city tour this fall. In its fifth year, the fair has welcomed more than 140,000 attendees.
"Now more than ever, we need to give young people the opportunity to see where a career in the skilled trades can take them," added Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, Trevor Jones.
Ontario has more than 94,000 active apprentices, the most in a decade, but the province will need 8,500 electricians, 7,200 millwrights, 6,300 welders, and 850 ironworkers over the next decade.
By 2035, one in six job openings in Ontario is expected to be in skilled trades-related occupations.
