Pets and their owners dressed in their spookiest Halloween costumes helped to raise $22,000 for the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society over the weekend.
For the first time since 2016, the society hosted the Hallowoof Fun Run & Walk at Malden Park.
Nearly 200 people took part in the event.
“We’ve spent a lot of time this year looking back at the people, events and milestones that have shaped the Humane Society over the past century, and Hallowoof was one of those events we knew we wanted to bring back,” said Lynnette Bain, Executive Director of the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society. “It was a chance for families, friends and their dogs to come together, have some fun and, most importantly, help us continue caring for animals in our community.”
The event included a 5k run, 1k family walk, costume contests, music, games, and family activities.
Every dollar raised will go toward the the Humane Society’s work providing care, shelter, and support to animals in Windsor and Essex County.
“For 100 years, this community has made our work possible,” said Bain. “Hallowoof is about celebrating that relationship while raising the funds we need to make sure animals can continue counting on us for many years to come.”
