Fourth suspect in Windsor kidnapping apprehended

Windsor police say a 29-year-old man wanted in connection with an April kidnapping case has been arrested.

Just before 1 a.m. on April 16, a man visited an acquaintance at a home on Lauzon Road and Yolanda Street.

Police reported that shortly after arriving, he was allegedly attacked by three masked suspects armed with firearms. The suspects threatened and beat him before taking his personal belongings and money.

The man was then reportedly held inside the home against his will. The suspects later attempted to force him into a vehicle, but he was able to escape and get help. He suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The Major Crimes Unit identified the 29-year-old as a suspect, but he fled to the U.S. before he could be arrested.

On Tuesday, members of the OPP-led ROPE Squad took custody of the man at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, after being arrested by the U.S. Border Patrol.

He is charged with armed robbery, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, forcible confinement, kidnapping, uttering death threats, violent motor vehicle theft, and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Three others, a 24-year-old man, a 26-year-old man, and a 30-year-old woman, are already facing numerous charges in relation to this incident.

The charges have not been proven in court.
