The Conservative Party of Canada has added another title to Essex MP Chris Lewis's resume: Special Advisor for the Great Lakes.
"I've had the pleasure of working with Chris for nearly seven years," said Leader Pierre Poilievre. "I know that he will fight tirelessly for the workers and families of this region."
Lewis is also a Conservative Shadow Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Services.
In his new role, he will advocate for communities in the Great Lakes region.
Together with St. Lawrence, the Great Lakes region accounted for about half of Canada's trade with the U.S. Nearly $34-billion in cargo was shipped along those waterways in 2022.
"For centuries, the Great Lakes have been at the heart of North American commerce," said Lewis. "I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance policies that will save money and bring good-paying jobs for the people of this region."
