You will see more police officers in downtown Windsor this week as part of a patrol initiative.
Starting Tuesday and lasting three days, additional Windsor police officers will patrol the downtown area as part of the Strengthening the Core program.
The patrols are being used to address concerns from business owners and visitors about criminal activity, disruptive behaviour, and public drug use.
"Our downtown belongs to everyone, and people should be able to spend time there feeling confident and safe," said Windsor Police Deputy Chief of Operations Keith Cribley. "This three-day initiative puts additional officers on the streets to address concerns we are hearing from our community, with a particular focus on public drug use. Our officers will be highly visible, engaged with the community, and respond to concerns as they arise."
Officers, who will be patrolling on foot and on bicycles, will spend the three days interacting with residents and business owners, learning about their concerns, and taking enforcement action when needed.
