Teen charged after pepper spray assault

A teen is facing charges after allegedly threatening someone and spraying pepper spray at a local business.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to a convenience store on Chippawa Street for an assault. Officers were told a suspect threatened to kill a woman who was standing outside the store. The suspect then entered the store and, after being refused service, sprayed three employees with a noxious substance before taking off.

The store had to be closed because of the spray.

Officers arrested a 16-year-old who was charged with assault, administering a noxious substance, uttering threats to cause death, mischief, and failure to comply with a release order.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4830.
