UPDATE: Hwy 77 reopens after chemical spill

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has reopened Highway 77 in the Leamington area after a chemical spill on Monday afternoon.

The intersection of Highway 77 and Mersea Road 7 was shut down completely as of 3 p.m. Emergency crews have responded, though there is no word on what the spill was.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Environment, Leamington Fire Services, and the Fire and Spills Action Center were on scene investigating the spill.

Highway 77 was also closed between Mersea Road 6 and Mersea Road 8, and Mersea Road 7 is closed between Albuna Townline and Mersea Road 12.

All of those roads reopened as of 11:30 p.m. Monday.
