our new injection molding machines are operational at Plasman's Windsor 1 Manufacturing facility in Oldcastle.
The installation represents a $10-million investment in the plant.
"We installed them particularly for some new programs that we recently won with Honda and General Motors. So we looked to that, and what we wanted to do was to increase the amount of investment in technology," said Rod Alward, Plasman's North American President.
The new state-of-the-art machines will increase efficiency and innovation at the plant.
"This is huge because the new presses are much more productive, improve cycle times, improve controls on them, and lead to where we're shipping a better quality part in a shorter amount of time," said Alward.
The investment also resulted in around 18 additional jobs at the Windsor 1 facility. Plasman employs around 2,500 people at its six facilities in the Windsor-Essex region.
"The fact that the company is willing to invest as much money as they have, $10-million Canadian dollars, in four new injection machines which will have longevity. Some of our machines out there are 25-plus years, so if you look at these machines that we have and consider 25 years from today, it shows that the commitment, the dedication, the hard work that this team has put in is being recognized by our company," said David Toldo, General Manager of Plasman's Windsor 1 and Windsor 3 facilities.
