The unofficial summer holiday season is, regretfully, coming to an end.
Monday is Labour Day, a federal statutory holiday celebrated on the same day as the U.S. version.
All federal, provincial and municipal government offices will be closed on Monday. There will be no Canada Post delivery.
All Service Ontario branches are closed, although some transactions may be performed online.
All financial institutions, such as banks and credit unions, will also be closed Labour Day.
Fall classes will begin on Tuesday for all four of the public school boards serving Windsor-Essex.
At St. Clair College, Fall 2026 classes will begin on Tuesday on all campuses.
At the University of Windsor, orientation will begin on Tuesday for first-year education students, as well as third and fourth-year nursing students. Fall classes will begin on Thursday for all students except Windsor Law.
For those needing to do last-minute back-to-school shopping, Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday. Tecumseh Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The 311 call centre will be closed on Labour Day, but the 311 service is available online 24 hours. If you have a municipal-related emergency, such as a downed tree or backed-up sewer, call the after-hours line at (519) 255-6326.
The 211 call centre will operate 24 hours as usual.
In the City of Windsor, both commercial and residential garbage and yard waste collection will not face a holiday-based delay and will continue as usual.
The public drop-off and chemical waste disposal facilities on Central Avenue will be closed on Labour Day.
All community centres, customer care centres, and arenas in the City of Windsor are closed on Monday except for pre-scheduled or previously booked rentals.
All outdoor pools in Windsor will be open on Sunday as usual, but close for the season as of Monday. However, Lanspeary Pool will stay open past Labour Day for Aquafitness and Fit Lanes only.
All indoor pools will be closed on Monday.
At the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre, the fitness centre will be open Labour Day from noon to 4 p.m., along with Adventure Bay Family Water Park.
Ice rinks at the WFCU Centre will be open for rentals on Monday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be free public skating from 10 a.m. to noon.
All of the City's park-based splash pads will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All Windsor Public Library branches and Essex County Library branches will be closed on Sunday and Monday.
There is no parking enforcement in the City of Windsor on Sunday and Monday. Street-metered parking will be free. Garages and surface lots will be paid as usual. Payment offices are closed, though payments can still be made online.
The H-4 Community Hub at the former Windsor Water World will be open 24 hours.
The Lakeview Park Marina's office and fuel dock will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the launch ramps will open at 6 a.m.
Transit Windsor buses are running on the Sunday and holiday schedule. The customer service office at the Chatham Street West terminal will be open on Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Chimczuk Museum and the Francois Baby House will be closed on Monday, their normal off days. Streetcar #351 at the Legacy Beacon will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
All LCBO locations will be closed on Labour Day.
Selected Beer Store outlets will be open on Monday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Be sure to check your location. Supermarkets and convenience stores that sell alcohol may be either closed or on shortened hours on Labour Day.
