OPP continue to get calls related to Grandparents Scam

The Ontario Provincial Police are reaching out to the public, urging them to stay vigilant against the Grandparent Scam.

Sometimes it's referred to as the Grandchild scam or the Emergency Scam, but they all involve the victim getting a phone call from someone claiming to be a loved one in trouble with the law. The caller insists they need money.

The scam is many years old, but police continue to get calls from victims. The OPP wants to hear from anyone targeted by fraud, and they can reach the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

Police say knowledge is power, and the Little Black Book of Scams is also available to the public online.
