Man facing charges in connection to child sexual assault

A 22-year-old man is facing several charges in connection with the sexual assault of two children.

Windsor police said shortly before 10 p.m. on August 13, officers responded to a report of a disturbance in the Bloomfield Road and Chippawa Street area.

On scene, officers learned that an unknown adult male had approached two boys, aged 8 and 10, who were playing in the area.

The suspect allegedly attempted to kiss the 10-year-old boy, who was able to avoid the advance. The suspect then reportedly kissed the 8-year-old boy on the cheek twice.

The children ran home and told their parents, who spotted and confronted the suspect before he entered a residence in the same area.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m., officers found the suspect in an alley behind Peter Street. The suspect allegedly tried to run but was apprehended by officers, following a brief struggle.

At the time, the suspect was bound by a release order requiring him to remain in his residence daily between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The release order stemmed from charges laid in May 2025, including sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference, assault, and failure to comply with a release order.

Qasim Sabi has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual interference and failure to comply with a release order.

Anyone with information that may assist with this investigation is asked to contact the Windsor Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit (CASA) at 519-255-6700, ext. 4903.
