Lakeshore is celebrating its second consecutive win at the regional Safety Truck Roadeo earlier this month.
The roadeo was held on July 7, bringing together more than 30 snowplow operators from across Essex County to test their safety knowledge, technical skills, and professional driving abilities.
Scott Fick, an equipment operator with the Municipality of Lakeshore, took first place. Last year, Ron Duquette, also with the Municipality of Lakeshore, won. Fick will advance to the Provincial Safety Truck Roadeo in Owen Sound in September.
"Congratulations to Scott on this impressive achievement," said Mayor Tracey Bailey. "We are proud to see Lakeshore represented at the provincial level for a second year in a row. It is truly a testament to the skill and dedication of our Public Works team, and we wish him the best in Owen Sound."
Local chapters of the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors hold the contest to promote safety, courtesy, and professional public works driving skills. Participants are tested on trucks equipped with snowplows and wings. It starts with a pre-trip inspection and includes an obstacle course and a written test.
