Exercise Border Sentinel set for Detroit River this weekend

The Detroit River will be a centre of activity this weekend.

The annual Exercise Border Sentinel, a training operation consisting of small boats and multiple law-enforcement and military agencies, will take place on the river Saturday and Sunday.

The Sentinel is an exercise of the Canadian Armed Forces, and will be conducted by the HMCS Hunter and partner agencies.

Among the participating agencies are Windsor police, LaSalle police, Ontario Provincial Police, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Essex-Windsor EMS.

Also scheduled to participate in this exercise are the Windsor Port Authority, Leamington Fire, and other municipal, provincial, and federal agencies.

Residents will likely see an increased police presence along the riverfront between Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie over the course of the weekend.
