OPP arrest trio of alleged impaired drivers in county

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers had yet another busy weekend on Essex County roads, with three people arrested for impaired driving.

The first report was received soon after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, when officers looked into a traffic complaint on Walker Road in Tecumseh.

The driver, a 20-year-old Windsor resident, was charged with impaired driving.

The second was in the early morning hours of Sunday. OPP patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 22 near Puce Road in Lakeshore at around 12:30 a.m.

A 42-year-old Windsor man was charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol content.

Almost two hours later, OPP officers responded to a crash on Danforth Avenue and Oak Street in Leamington.

A 35-year-old Leamington resident was arrested for impaired driving, driving with excessive blood-alcohol content, and dangerous driving.

All three drivers had their vehicles impounded for seven days, and their licences suspended for 90 days.

The charges have not been proven in court. All three drivers will have a chance to respond to the charges during appearances in a Windsor court in late May.
