Shots fired at Windsor police officer

Windsor police are asking for help after shots were fired at an officer Tuesday afternoon.

Police reported that members of the Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment building on Glengarry Avenue around 1:30 p.m. When officers were leaving, shots were fired near the east parking lot of 333 Glengarry Avenue.

Police said multiple rounds were fired toward an officer and a police vehicle. There were no physical injuries, but the cruiser had visible holes in its back window and the body of the vehicle.

At this time, it is unclear whether the shots were fired from a conventional firearm or a lower-powered device like a pellet or BB gun.

The Windsor Police Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation and is asking anyone who was in the area between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., or who may have dashcam or surveillance footage, to come forward.
