If you need to spay or neuter your cat, but can't afford it, or if you have a few stray cats that hang around your home, the City of Windsor is offering vouchers to cover the cost.
The city has put aside $20,000 in this year's budget for its Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for Cats.
Only 260 vouchers are available starting on Thursday, March 12, and only two are allowed per household.
Those who need a voucher can call 311.
The vouchers, worth $75, including HST, are non-transferable and must be used no later than June 30.
The city will give successful applicants a list of participating clinics. Applicants will have to book the appointment after they receive their voucher in the mail.
The vouchers are reserved for low-income families, and the city will need a declaration of income.
Those caring for feral cats, the limit is still vouchers per household, but there are no income restrictions.
Applicants must be at least 18.
