Shelter capacity should meet current demand

There should be enough shelter beds and overnight drop-in spaces for everyone to stay warm this winter.

The City of Windsor currently has 197 shelter beds and rooms available for men, women, couples, families, and their pets at four locations. There are also 100 additional drop-in spaces.

The shelters include the Welcome Centre Shelter for Women, the Downtown Mission, Salvation Army, and the Homelessness and Housing Help Hub (H4).

There is also an emergency shelter and drop-in program in Leamington at the Essex County homelessness Hub and Shelter Program.

According to the City of Windsor, current data indicates there is enough space within existing facilities to meet demands. City staff will continue to monitor drop-in data daily.
