The City of Windsor is considering nearly $1-million in remediation work to preserve waterways throughout Peche Island.
The projects include erosion protection and addressing sediment under the pedestrian bridge for inland water flow.
An erosion protection study and management plan could take 12-16 months to complete and cost around $125,000 to $150,000.
Addressing sediment and restoring water flow could cost an estimated $800,000 and $900,000.
City administration indicated allocating funds to either of these projects could impact other municipal projects in the 2026 budget.
On Monday, Windsor City Council referred approval of the projects to budget deliberation but also voted to allow administration to move forward with some of the application process.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says this was brought forward no to gauge councillor's appetite for the project.
"If there's a general agreement that there's some acceptance of this, what we want to do is make sure we have all our ducks in a row for applications, understand what the deadline is for submission, and what window we're working toward," said Dilkens.
Budget deliberations are expected to take place in January.
