Police receive multiple reports of thefts in area parking lots

Windsor police have issued a warning after receiving several reports of distraction thefts.

Investigators report the incidents happened in parking lots on Goyeau Street near Elliott Street and on Walker Road near Cabana Road.

As part of the rouse, a pair of people driving a vehicle approach seniors or individuals who appear willing to engage in conversation. The suspects offer the victim a piece of jewelry for free and then use the interaction to steal the victim's real jewelry.

Police are asking people to report suspicious interactions immediately.

They also advise people to be cautious of strangers offering unsolicited items and avoid showing valuables in public.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
