A settlement has been reached between the City of Windsor and former city engineer Chris Nepszy.
Nepszy was let go from the city in 2023 and filed a wrongful dismissal suit in March 2024.
The details of the settlement have not been disclosed.
"The litigation has been settled. We are unable to further discuss employment matters related to identifiable individuals," said Mike Janisse, senior manager of communications with the City of Windsor.
Nepszy was seeking almost $1.55-million in damages, including back pay, benefits, and punitive damages. In his suit Nepszy claimed City Hall was a hostile work environment that had a "culture of corruption".
The city's court filed defence stated that "the plaintiff's statement of claim, as drafted, is replete with sensationalized and spurious allegations that are deliberately inflammatory crafted in such a way as to ostensibly embarrass the City, various elected officials, and members of the senior leadership team."
Mayor Drew Dilkens used strong mayor powers to replace Nepszy and Commissioner of Legal and Legislative Services Shelby Askin Hager in November 2023.
