Man wanted for theft flees police

A man who was wanted in connection to a theft tried but failed to evade police last week.

On November 3, Windsor police patrol officers were in the area of Jefferson Boulevard when the Automatic Licence Plate Recognition system alerted them that the registered owner of a vehicle was wanted for theft.

Police report the officers tried to stop the vehicle but before they could approach, the driver sped off.

The driver was identified and he was arrested shortly afterward on Etienne Boulevard.

The 45-year-old is facing charges of theft under $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from a peace officer.
