Windsor police say crime figures were trending were in the right direction last month.
The crime statistics for October, released on social media Wednesday morning, indicate drops in both property and personal crime.
The decline in property crime was more dramatic. It fell by 24.9 per cent, compared to October 2024.
When looking at 2025 to date, the rate was down 8.2 per cent compared to the time between January and October of last year.
There were 826 complaints of property crime in Windsor and Amherstburg, and 9,138 reports year-to-date.
Property crime is characterised in Windsor as arson, break-and-enter, fraud, mischief, theft, and possession of stolen property.
Personal crime also went down in October, though the drop was more subtle, at 2.2 per cent compared to last year.
The trend in 2025 so far is down 4.7 per cent, with a total of 2,603 reports.
Criminal Code violations that were not covered by the other two categories continued to rise, according to police. Those reports were up 7.4 per cent year-to-year, and up 3.4 per cent in 2025 to date.
Offences falling into this category include child pornography, non-violent weapons offences, betting and gaming offences, and administration of justice violations.
Windsor's Ward 3, which includes the downtown core, continues to top an undesirable list. It continued to have the highest number of both property and personal offences last month.
Ward 1 reported the lowest number of both property and personal crimes in October.
