LaSalle launches first Police Auxillary Program

LaSalle Police are recruiting six auxiliary officers for its first-ever Police Auxiliary Program.

"The program is a volunteer-based initiative designed for citizens to assist police officers with various community-based policing and crime prevention initiatives," said a release from the Town of LaSalle. "It also serves as an opportunity for those interested in a career in policing to gain some insight and experience."

Auxiliary officers attend special events, conduct bicycle patrols, and ride-alongs with patrol officers.

Those interested in applying have until October 31 to submit their application by emailing Ida Larocque, the executive assistant to the police chief, at ilarocque@lasallepolice.ca.

Successful applicants will undergo ten weeks of training before they are deployed. The first session starts in January.
