UPDATE: Essex road reopens after Wednesday flooding

A flooded road in the Town of Essex has reopened.

Torrential downpours in portions of Windsor-Essex on Wednesday led the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) to issue a flood warning, which has since expired.

"The Town of Essex so far has been the most severely impacted by the recent rainfall," said ERCA Water Resources Engineer Tian Martin on Wednesday. "The areas currently affected by flooding include County Road 50 in the Town of Essex, between County Road 41 and Wright Road. Areas between these streets have significant water over the roadways, including many roads heading south towards Lake Erie."

The County of Essex reported on its Facebook page that County Road 50 between County Road 41 and Wright Road had reopened as of 3 p.m.

The total amount of rainfall in the hardest hit areas exceeded 100 millimetres.
