Suspicious market fire causes $300K in damage

The Windsor police Arson Unit is taking a closer look at a fire that seriously damaged a downtown grocery store.

Windsor firefighters responded at around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday to the market on Glengarry Avenue near Wyandotte Street East. When they arrived, they found the business enveloped in heavy smoke.

The fire was declared under control, and the smoke was cleared out within an hour.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but it is believed to be suspicious. The police arson unit and a fire investigator were on scene on Wednesday morning.

Damage is estimated at over $300,000.

No injuries were reported.
