A young Windsor boy got to become an honourary police officer for a day as part of a Make-a-Wish request.
Eight-year-old Aboudi became the Windsor Police Service's latest honourary officer in a swearing-in ceremony Wednesday morning that included a motorcade, honour guard, and fireworks.
"When he had his problem, the first time the police come into my home to help him and after when he [woke] up he told me, Dad, I will be a police officer," said Abdalslam Almthhoul, Adoubi's father.
Aboudi has undergone multiple surgeries in the last five years for a brain tumour.
Aboudi's day as a Windsor police officer was filled with exciting missions at the training facility and lots of surprises.
"It's the least we can do for a young man like Aboudi who is facing things that most of us never face in our entire lifetime and if all we have to do is provide him with a couple of great days working with our organization and seeing some things that police do every day, it's the very least we can do," said Windsor Police Chief Jason Bellaire.
