Speeding alerted the OPP to impaired driving on Hwy. 3

The high speed of a vehicle on Hwy. 3 on the weekend alerted an Ontario Provincial Police officer to another crime underway, impaired driving.

Officers were conducting speed enforcement along Hwy.3 just before 8 p.m. on Saturday, when a vehicle blew past going 125 km/h. The speed limit is 80 km/h.

During the traffic stop, the driver admitted to drinking alcohol earlier, so the 29-year-old woman was arrested and taken to the detachment for more testing.

The woman, from Windsor, faces two impaired driving charges and one of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

She's expected to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on September 10. Her license was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded for a week.
