Driver charged after violations following Ford Fireworks

A 33-year-old man is charged with dangerous driving after a hazardous situation in downtown Windsor right after the Ford Fireworks.

Around 11 p.m. on Monday, officers spotted a speeding black Dodge Grand Caravan that ignored red lights and traffic barriers, drove up onto the sidewalk, narrowly missing pedestrians, and, at one point, went the wrong way on Goyeau Street.

Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop in front of Windsor Police headquarters.

Officers say the suspect resisted arrest and screamed incoherently, but they were able to take him into custody without injuries.

No one was hurt.
