Two Windsor-Essex beaches report high bacteria counts

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) has a note for anyone wanting to hit the beach this weekend.

The health unit conducted its weekly testing of beach water, and two public beaches are under a "code yellow" for high levels of E.coli contamination.

Cedar Beach in Kingsville and Holiday Beach in Amherstburg both reported bacterial counts exceeding 200.

Swimming is not recommended, though the beaches themselves and other amenities are open.

Windsor-Essex's five other public beaches are fully open after testing at levels below the provincial threshold.

The health unit conducted its testing on Wednesday and will do so weekly throughout the summer.

Sandpoint Beach in Windsor has been closed by the City due to concerns about public safety.
