Local activists call for new economic policy ahead of G7

A group of activists from Windsor-Essex is sending a message to Prime Minister Mark Carney ahead of the G7 meeting in Alberta next week.

ImpactG7 penned a letter to Canadian leaders to advocate for a change in economic policy.

"We need a new international strategy—one that rejects the destructive forces that divide people and drive global injustice," reads the letter.

It goes on to encourage leaders to reject policies that embrace militarism and prioritise corporate interests.

"A just and sustainable future demands bold change, rooted in solidarity, equity, and ecological responsibility," the letter continues.

The full letter can be found here. It is signed by the Council of Canadians, the Windsor-Essex Health Coalition, and Windsor-Essex On Watch.

The G7 is meeting in Alberta from June 15 to 17.
