Woman allegedly makes false report to police after crash

A Windsor woman faces multiple charges after she struck a parked car and then falsely reported her vehicle stolen.

It happened just after midnight on Thursday. An SUV collided with a parked pickup truck near Brodhead Street and Howard Avenue.

Police say the woman was driving at the time, but instead of staying at the scene of the crash, she allegedly hid and called police to report the SUV stolen.

They found several open liquor bottles in the SUV.

Officers spotted her running from the area and arrested the woman after a short struggle.

They say the woman appeared impaired, and her speech was slurred.

The 25-year-old now faces nine charges, including impaired driving, driving under suspension, public mischief, and possessing more than one license.

The incident is still under investigation, and police ask anyone with information to call the Patrol Support Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4000, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477, or go to www.catchcrooks.com.
