339 lbs of coke found at Ambassador Bridge

An Indian citizen faces federal charges in the U.S. after officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized 339 lbs of cocaine coming into Canada.

Early Tuesday morning, border guards at the Ambassador Bridge sent a Canada-bound commercial truck for secondary inspection.

While searching the vehicle, they found what they believed was cocaine in two duffel bags and four moving boxes.

Subsequent testing proved the powdery, white substance was cocaine.

Officers seized the cocaine, along with the truck and trailer.

"Our ports of entry are not thoroughfares for illegal drugs," said Acting Port Director David Beculheimer. "We work diligently to enable fair, competitive, and compliant trade, and a significant part of that is stopping those who seek to exploit import and export processes for illicit gain."

The case is still under investigation by ICE Homeland Security Investigations.
