Hospital changes visitor policy amid measles outbreak

Windsor Regional Hospital is implementing visitor restrictions for children under the age of 16 because of the current measles outbreak.

The hospital's policy change will be in effect until further notice.

Anyone with an appointment who may have been exposed to measles in the past three weeks, are unvaccinated, are presenting with symptoms of measles, or has travelled outside of Canada in the past three weeks, please call 519-254-5577 and dial 0 before the scheduled time.

People going to the Emergency Department who meet the same criteria are also asked to call ahead and wear a mask.

There have been three confirmed measles cases in the Windsor-Essex region. The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has reported numerous exposure points throughout the community.
