Man wanted on Canada-wide warrant arrested in Windsor

Windsor police have arrested a Brampton man who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

Officers with the City Centre Patrol unit responded to a report at noon on Thursday of two men trespassing in an apartment building in the Glengarry section of downtown.

The men were quickly located inside the building. One tried to run but was stopped and arrested after a short chase. A search of the suspect returned 70.8 grams of fentanyl, which police say is valued at over $17,000.

Police soon learned that the suspect was wanted by York Regional Police for weapons trafficking and multiple counts of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

The 25-year-old man is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, resisting arrest, unlawfully entering a premises, and failure to comply with a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.
