Windsor gets just over $2M as host of Caesars Windsor

The City of Windsor has picked up some cash for hosting a casino.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has sent the City a cheque for $2,050,741 as the host of Caesars Windsor, for the third quarter of 2024.

"Host municipalities across Ontario gain tangible benefits from the jobs and economic activity fostered by land-based gaming in their community,” said Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Stan Cho. “In addition, OLG’s host payments fund critical infrastructure, parks, and recreation facilities, and countless local programs and initiatives that help make our communities better places to live, work, and play."

The City's quarterly payments are computed through a formula applied to all the province's gaming sites, using a graduated scale of revenue at the host property.

So far, during the OLG's 2024-25 fiscal year, Windsor has received $7,504,974.

The City's all-time take has now reached nine digits. Since the complex opened in May 1994, Windsor has received $129,336,540.
